This system manages all grant programs in Michigan DOT. The system serves as a linkage between grant programs and MDOT’s enterprise database for project information, the Michigan Architecture Project (MAP). This linkage allows “cradle to grave” grant project monitoring and will improve grant program management. The system is a web-based and uses Oracle, Rational and Websphere technologies. Business web services were written in .net and C# and integrated with the system. The system has two way communication to third party software (eGrams package) by means of Web services.

Sr. Analyst/Developer (Sept '01 to Dec '04)
Michigan Transportation Enhancement Program (TEA): Annually, the Michigan Transportation Enhancement Program receives hundreds of applications for project funding. MDOT issues a call for applications on an annual basis. Applications come from county and local agencies and MDOT itself. Of the approximately 300 applications that are received, only a portion of the projects can be funded. Employees in the TEA office analyze and compare project-funding applications, and determine which the best candidates for TEA resources are. Funding is awarded accordingly. The Transportation Enhancement Fund Application, is a system designed to assist in the analysis of project funding applications. TEA helps users track calls for applications and the applications themselves, as well as information about the submitters. Environmental or engineering reviewers can use the system to enter their assessment of applications. TEA allows users to scan and store copies of supporting documents for examination by multiple reviewers. Finally, based on the analysis data input the system ranks the applications. TEA can be accessed by either Client/Server or WEB.

Architect: Traffic Monitoring System - TMIS
The system collects traffic data from sensors installed in all highways in Michigan. The data is aggregated in one centralized Oracle database. The system presents the data in different formats in a web based system written in asp.net and C#. The system tries to find patterns and trends in traffic data so that traffic jams can be minimized.

Analyst/Team Leader – Change Request Form (CRF)
This Web Based system was developed to provide a consistent approach to the change process and to maintain a documentation trail of changes made to the database. With this historical record it is possible for new or experienced staff to track changes made to the database. CRF is used by system administrators and staff members with the authorization to change the structure or content of a system database. Changes that can be requested through CRF include loading of data, refreshing a test/development database by copying data from the production version, adding, deleting or changing the database design, adding, deleting, modifying tables and creating procedures, triggers or views.

The Michigan Department of Transportation has the responsibility of administering the federal Section 5311 program which includes the Rural Transit Assistance Program (RTAP). The RTAP provides a source of funding to assist in the design and implementation of training and technical assistance projects and other support services tailored to meet the specific needs of transit operators in nonurbanized areas. The RTAP system tracks the distribution of these federal funds to meet the training needs of Michigan's rural transportation systems.
