Co-Founded this IT Consultancy with 4 partners to provide a wide range of advisory services to clients. Contributed to the growth of the business by managing client engagements, client relationships and developing new business opportunities.

Engagements included: implementing a comprehensive IT Sourcing and Inventory control system for a U.S. government agency; developing a document management process for a law firm; creating internal IT support services for a start-up publishing company; and helping a real estate management company benchmark their IT support capabilities for their distributed client/server environment.

Bluewater Technology Inc. Director Tactical Initiatives/CTO 1999 – 2001
Served a key management role in this start-up company by participating in business development initiatives, developing the Account Management function and serving as the CTO managing internal IT. Contributed to the growth of the business by managing client engagements, client relationships and developing new business opportunities. Delivered client work including implementing a comprehensive IT Change Management process for The Weather Channel; developing a Production Control Process for Hershey Foods; performing Infrastructure Assessments and off-site workshops to provide direction for restructuring and process development projects for clients such as CDNow, Arbinet, MapInfo, NewsAmerica Marketing, ColumbiaHouse, CNF, Sony Pictures and Arbinet.

Technical Operations Center management
Responsible for a facility with a $2M budget, 2 full time staff and an outsourced mainframe operations contract. Responsibilities included managing the production and development environments with 50+ servers (UNIX, Lotus Notes and Novell), Bay routers, Ethernet hubs and other telecomm systems; administering the legacy mainframe operations vendor relationship and user support facilities; and coordinating the acquisition of all hardware and software. Successfully negotiated corporate hardware, software and service contracts with major vendors (IBM, Oracle, Microsoft) resulting in a cost saving in excess of $1M in one year.

International videoconferencing network
Responsible for Implementing and supporting the world's first international switched ISDN multi-point videoconference network to facilitate face-to-face collaboration between clients and experts, as well as internal teams from all over the world. Responsibilities included all project planning, marketing, implementation and support for a successful 3 continent, 8 location pilot test and then marketing the technology to all international offices and finally building a support organization and reservation system to coordinate several hundred videoconferences annually for the 35 sites ultimately installed.

IT Standards
Responsible for overseeing the development and publication of standards and compliance management to ensure value realization from a $150M IT budget. Served as the coordinating member of a committee of IT managers and regional office representatives that managed the development of more than 80 standards in 18 months. Responsibilities included creating the standards development and compliance management processes, designing and launching a web site for the publication of the standards and managing the syndication of a best practices and technology resource directory.

Distributed Computing Support Services
Responsible for creating and managing a global technology support function with a $3.5M budget, 9 full time staff and two outside contractors. Responsibilities included developing and implementing the support service line and performance measurement metrics; negotiating and administering the acquisition of all hardware, software and services; and managing the worldwide rollout of a human resource system.

Office Automation Management
Responsible for creating and managing a global technology support function to serve more than five thousand users that evaluated emerging technologies for enhancing staff productivity and implemented and administered numerous technology firsts (LANs, WANs, global e-mail, remote access). Also providing assistance to local office technology coordinators with the investigation, implementation and support of new technologies.

Organizational Roles
In addition to Technology management, served on the IT management committee for 7 years overseeing finance, personnel and administration with responsibility for numerous initiatives. Some of the notable ones were the redesign of a hierarchical MIS function into a horizontal IT organization to achieve in more flexible project staffing and improved administration; creating and implementing an IT staff professional development program to ensure the highest level of technical proficiency and client satisfaction; coordinating annual worldwide IT managers’ conferences to discuss technology and foster cooperation; creating and serving on the IT sourcing advisory committee and the staff orientation and training committee.

Price Waterhouse & Co., New York, NY & Tampa, FL Manager 1977 - 1985
Created and managed the first end-user technology group (which grew to a staff of 27) to implement and support accounting, auditing and administrative applications. Managed the implementation of a standard word processing system for all 90 U.S. offices. Assessed the viability of the original personal computers from Apple, IBM and Tandy and software applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, communications and databases.
