Sr. Vice President/General Manager, Removable Storage and Automation
Senior company officer responsible for the full P&L of the $500 million tape device storage business. Directed all sales, marketing, product strategy, program management, R&D, engineering, operations, and customer support strategies and objectives. Also responsible for the technical strategy, engineering, and resources for the $250M tape media business. Following a functional re-organization, responsibilities included product strategy leadership, R&D, engineering, and product delivery for all tape and media products including enterprise automation systems. This covered over 75% of Quantum’s $1.2M business.
· Directed organization of over 400 technical resources in the technology development, architecture, design, introduction, and support of a market leading product portfolio…Result: delivered world-class products that generated over $1B in annual revenue.
· Directed operational and R&D efficiency improvements...Result: increased gross margins 65%, reduced expenses 23% and increased profitability 70% for a net profit improvement of $50M annually.
· Directed development and implementation of a new product design strategy...Result: ensured more competitive products, delivered on schedule at 50% the total development cost.
· Developed and implemented a joint product development agreement with a multi-billion dollar company...Result: increased annual profits $15 million.
· Negotiated favorable long-term manufacturing agreement with a major offshore partner...Result: improved product costs 15% and annual profits $7 million.
· Chartered new company wide IP generation and utilization program...Result: 75 new US patents in less than 2 years.
