INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE:
Internship and Undergraduate Project at Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited on Study of Shell
and Tube Heat Exchanger utilized in the Wax Producing Process: (January 06-April07)

•Analyzed the basic design and structure of Shell and tube heat exchangers with consideration of factors such as flow rates, pressure drops and velocities in exchangers, area of heat exchanger and its heat transfer coefficient.
•Analyzed the efficiency of the Shell and Tube Heat Exchangers utilized in the process used for producing waxes.
•Calculated the Design Efficiency of the Heat Exchangers for the existing design and tried to improve the efficiency virtually by making few design changes.
•Studied the whole mechanism of shell and tube heat exchangers and derived out four important factors such as materials of construction, ease of maintenance, cost of exchanger, overall heat integration while choosing a heat exchanger for a particular process.


Internship at “Metro Water Plant”, Chennai, India (May 05-June05)
•Observed the nature of the brackish water and the chemical processes through which the hardness causing ions were removed and water was made drinkable.
•Took the water samples to the laboratories and found the parts per million values of hardness causing ions by undergoing various tests.


Internship at “TVS Electronics Limited,Chennai” India (May 06-June 06)
•Acquired knowledge of the processes involved behind the printing mechanism of Dot matrix and Inkjet printers.
•Observed the ink flow and the characteristics of the dye used behind it.
•Observed the whole Process of the assembly of Dot Matrix and Inkjet printers.
•Prepared a Report based on the work we did and submitted it to the company.

•Event organizer for JET CHEM 2006-national conference conducted by Institute of chemical Engineers based on chemical engineering thermodynamics.
