Work History: |
Research Assistant (01/2004-05/2008), Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Clemson University
Conducted research in Automatic Linear Feature Analysis, this work is focused on developing a fast and automatic algorithm for detecting linear structures such as plant root, retinal vessel, palmprint and highway road in imagery.
• Studied and compared template matching-based and scale space-based methods for linear structure detection.
• Developed a method for underground plant roots detection in minirhizotron images based on matched filtering and local entropy thresholding.
• Developed a multiple directional non-maximum suppression algorithm for linear feature detection.
• Designed and built software framework for linear structures detection based on C++.
Research Intern (05/2007-08/2007), Radiology Support Unit, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN
Participated in IMT program enhancement project; the goal is to automate the ultrasound measurements of intima-media thickness (IMT) of carotid arteries using image processing techniques.
• Developed an algorithm to distinguish longitudinal clips from transverse clips based on edge detection.
• Developed a method for automatic detection of intima-media interface location
• Recognize annotation characters in ultrasound images
• Designed and implemented a novel method for gating phase-matched frames in video clips by tracking the fluctuation of vessel diameter.
Research Intern (05/2008-Present), Eigen Corporation, Grass Valley, CA
Participated in QSA project; this project is to develop an automatic real-time system for stenosis detection with X-ray Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA).
• Developed an automatic algorithm to detect stenosis in x-ray images based on centerline expansion.
