In the past thirty three (33) years, I have functioned in all areas of jobbing and in-house product environments as a designer and manufacturer of products utilizing precision and dynamic components and assemblies for the Aero / Astrospace (including Class A Critical, FSR), Defense, Medical, Marine, Power and Consumer Goods Industries. I have familiarity with military and sub-contractor specifications, engineering drawing specification and development to ANSI Y14.5M-1994, MIL-STD-100, MIL-DTL-31000A, MIL-STD-973, ASME Y14.100M, Quality requirements per ISO9000, FDA / GMP / QSR / SOP and Mil-I-45208 A regulations. It is my charter to devise, develop and implement safe, quality oriented and cost effective products and processes, the end result being maximized profits at a detail and assembly level for my customers.

Industrial and Mechanical Design, New Product Development and Manufacturing Consultant:
Provide Design and Manufacturing Engineering Services tailored to customer specific requirements utilizing Pro/Engineer r12 thru Wildfire 4 in addition to other various CAD/CAM systems totaling approximately 30 years CAD/CAM experience. Design services encompass product conceptualization and development, component and assembly 3D design and 2D drawing documentation packages to the customer’s standards. Manufacturing services encompass process development, implementation and troubleshooting, tool and fixture design, custom cutting tool development and mold tool design and implementation. Quality / Regulatory services include development of DHF’s, Risk/Fault Tree Analysis, dFMEA and Mechanical Test Protocol documents in addition to performing vendor audits and first article inspection activities.

Industrial and Mechanical Design, New Product Development and Manufacturing Based Services:
Product Development Group:
- Provide design and engineering resources for Hip and Knee Engineering projects (Class1 and 2 implants and devices) with emphasis on MIS - TJR (Minimally Invasive Surgical – Total Joint Replacement) and Navigation based procedures. Work in conjunction with engineering staff to meet percent to quote goals for the department.
- Brainstorm with in-house Product and Project Managers, consulting Surgeons, Marketing and Sales representatives to develop prototypes for new standard products and custom surgical instrumentation and implants.
- Develop conceptual hand sketches for review to validate base ideas.
- Provide concept Cad Models and 2D layout drawings illustrating new concepts for Engineering and Surgeon reviews.
- Research appropriate materials and processes to fulfill mechanical and procedural requirements of concepts.
- Provide production 3D CAD modeling and 2D detailed drawings to support full scale development of projects.
- Perform tolerance and dimensional analysis on designs and check drawings for completeness and compliance.
- Design, produce and assemble rapid prototype components and assemblies for evaluation and presentation.
- Interface with in-house model shops, prototype and production operations departments and outside vendors to insure compliance with engineering drawings and to ensure delivery schedules are met.
- Coordinate with and provide liaison and first article inspections for all vendor fabrication activities for detail and assembly of prototype to ensure compliance to engineering specification.
- Provide assembly, functional test and documentation services of components and assemblies.
- Assist in product testing thru participation in sawbones sessions, cadaver studies and patient surgery as required.

- Conceptualize, design, build and validate life cycle testing apparatus as required to support projects.-

- Provide contract design services as required for all sustained knee implant product lines and instrumentation similar to services for the Product Development group shown above.
Custom Instruments Group:
- Design Custom Instruments and Implants to fulfill unique surgeon and or patient specific requirements.
- Provide Reverse Engineering Services from Customer supplied Instruments and Implants.
- Develop conceptual hand sketches for Customer and Surgeon review to validate new ideas.

Industrial and Mechanical Design, New Product Development and Manufacturing Services:
- Conceptualize and design a prototype sub-sea wave energy converter (mechanism to derive electrical energy from ocean waves) consisting of dynamic, high load bearing, energy absorbing and variable (adjustable) buoyant structures, positive buoyant shaft and linkage derived hydraulic drive systems, high impact waterproof electronics enclosures and complimentary anti-gravity device to secure mechanism to ocean floor.
- Develop conceptual hand sketches, 3D modeling, 2D documentation and prototype services as required to compliment concept.

Sikorsky Aircraft Co., Stratford, CT 07/87 - 11/89
Producibility Engineer / Developmental Manufacturing Center:
- Assigned to Prototype Variant Aircraft Group dedicated to the Armed Forces Special Operations Command to produce specialized aircraft and modifications packages to fulfill specific Special Forces requirements (MH-60K (SOA)).
- Work in conjunction with Airframe Structures, Dynamics and Manufacturing Engineering groups and provide Producibility studies to new airframe structures designs and modifications prior to engineering release.
- 3D design and 2D document of concepts and modifications per producibility study findings.
- Provide departmental sign-off of engineering drawings after necessary changes have been implemented to fulfill Sikorsky criteria for cost effective production.
- Develop in-depth detail, assembly and installation plans per company specifications for special projects.
- 3D design and 2D document special tooling to compliment modifications and installations as required.

Boeing Defense and Space Group, Ridley Park, PA 05/84 – 07/87
Producibility Engineer / Manufacturing Engineering Department:
- Review current manufacturing methods and update through use of modernized tooling and metal removal techniques.
- Responsible for processing Class -A- Critical, Dynamic, High Sonic Area and Flight Safety Regulated components (transmission gearing, bearings, drive shafts, landing gear, rotor components, etc.) in addition to structural airframe sheet metal components.
- Utilize Value Engineering methodology to redesign part and assembly configurations (cast, forged, molded and machined) to fulfill design intent based on fit, form and function, but make parts and assemblies easier to fabricate and install.
- Design custom cutting tools and work-holding fixtures and mold tooling for special projects both metallic and composite.
- Department representative to DOD Cost Savings Team. Responsibilities encompassed research and development of Class-2- Value Engineering Change Proposals per DOD requirements to increase safety and reduce cost of aircraft. Implement and follow up on all submitted and accepted proposals and document results.
- Investigate new technologies (material, machine, method and labor based) and prepare reports illustrating potential in-house applications including amortized cost justifications for management review.
- Provide factory liaison and support through interface with Planning, Design, Tooling, Programming, Manufacturing, R&D Departments and Operations on design, detail, assembly and installation issues and document per Boeing military and commercial division procedures.
- Review parts for low intrinsic value for make or but decisions in addition to performing supplier certification and audits.
- Provide SPC training to shop floor personnel and follow up support.
- Provide additional technical support to other programs as required (360, CH-47A-E, V22, 707, 727, 737, 747, 757 & 767).
