Sun Java Communications Suite 5 Deployment
This 2 month contract entailed building a Solaris 10 Ultra 250 server with an external Storedge 3510 array. The deployment involved installing the Suite 5 with Ldap Schema 2 and migrating 2,000 users from the present Ldap Schema 1.

Planning, coordinating, installing, implementing, and managing various UNIX servers. Responsibilities:
Environment of 200+ Solaris servers for production and development
Submitting PIF (project initiation form) requests for implementation of new projects, using automated web-based administration tool.
Submission of Aperture ( in-house workflow administrative tool) requests for rack and stack of servers, networking and storage
Utilized JumpStart for OS, security modules, in-house monitoring of applications and access functionality
Installation and Maintenance of SUN- UltraSPARC IIIi Sun Fire V240,V440,25K ; UltraSPARCII - Enterprise 4500, Netra T1405
Installing, configuring and monitoring of all web-based applications as well as databases, plug-in and open system utilities, both in stand-alone and clustered servers
Assignment of Network addresses (IP IPMP) using QIP (an in-house White Pages IP management web-based tool).
Troubleshoot DNS, NFS issues
Knowledge of TCP/IP utilities to control and monitor the system such as vmstat, netstat, ping, fork, finger and the use of FTP/SFTP to upload and download files from the remote. Use of proxy servers.
Scripting - Wrote scripts in ksh, csh to help automate the environment
Configured, Scheduled and maintained using EMC Legato NetWorker
Worked on an ongoing basis with the various business units to troubleshoot and resolve issues
Performed server hardware, firmware and software upgrades, patches and configurations
Worked in close connection with outside vendor in configuring WebSphere to work with 3rd party application in our environment
Instrumental in Disaster Recovery planning and prepared to perform the duties of DR team
SAN Storage Allocation and configuration using Veritas both in raw and FS formats. Working with EMC Storage Arrays and switches and management tools.
Capacity Planning Management using BMC Performance Manager (Patrol)
