Software Manager and Design Liaison, SophNet, Inc. 8/06 – present
• Architected and maintained a Java enterprise application integrating Industrial Control Systems, SCADA, Data Mining, SQL, AJAX, XML, and JACE (Java Application Control Engine) devices. These technologies were used for remote monitoring and control of power for industrial facilities as well as the accretion of data and web-based display.
• Assisted clients with ERCOT compliance issues and testing.
• Maintained certification as a Tridium/Honeywell Niagara Certified Developer.
• Performed Modbus industrial communications protocol integration and troubleshooting of wireless Modbus. (SCADA devices, which typically communicate through modbus, were integrated with our XML/JAVA web environment using RS485 and 900MHz RF connections through the JACE devices or through direct modbus communications over TCP/IP.)
• Integration of DNP 3 communications between remote devices over the web.
• Directed the design and implementation of the Business Plan and Budgets for the developing enterprise.
• Directed code reviews and ongoing documentation of systems and devices.
• Managed and supervised contract developers for Web front end, databases, numerical methods and network infrastructure.
• Served as company representative in professional organizations and conducted research on pilot programs and other funding sources.
• Other duties included determining appropriate technologies for implementation of various segments of an enterprise/industrial system and managing these technologies.

• Developed a GUI for user configuration of a medical timing and scheduling device using Swing/JFC, JUnit testing, and MySQL
• Programmed USB and Serial drivers for peripheral devices using the Windows Driver Model.
• Programmed 8051 ASIC Firmware in C using as well as debugging and modifications using the 8051 assembly language.
• Re-factored the complete network infrastructure of the company. (This included creating and configuring Firewalls; Web, Mail, SAMBA, DHCP, and IMAP servers; backup server; RAID file server; and integration with the building security system.)

• Participated in the design and implementation of controls for educational science museum display features including usability issues. This entailed creation of a Local Area Network, design of browser-based features and interfacing with electromechanical devices using, IBM PC’s and IBM diskless workstations.

• Designed and directed “Music for Change” an international conference serving approximately 200 participants from 10 nations.
