Work with vendors and common carriers during problem analysis/resolution as required.


Working with vendors is needed to resolve outage as quickly as possible.

Prepares and maintains standard operating procedures for network, technical specifications and documents, drawings, system documentation including operations management.


Following operating procedures and documentation is essential to having a well run network.

Responsible for the evaluation of vendor proposals and benefits of changes in hardware, communications protocols, switching methods, access methods, and tariffs, and in the procurement of software and hardware.


New technologies must be evaluated and implemented to continually improve the network efficiency and reliability.

Participates and consults in the planning, design and integration of new networks.


Planning and integrating new network must be done carefully not to effect production network.

Provides technical guidance and assists in the training of less experienced Network Engineers.


Assist in training Junior Engineers to do routine configurations will allow Sr. Network Engineers time to learn new technologies.

The Team

Technical Architecture – The position is a part of the Research and Development department and fills a senior role in our messaging systems development group. The teams involved consist of managers/staff, Communications Department, Operations, Application Development, contractors, and vendors.

Position description

As a senior member of our messaging R&D department, the candidate will be responsible for maintaining and improving the company’s state of the art global messaging environment with some cross platform (Microsoft/Cisco) unified messaging design and support.

The candidate will work with SMTP, Microsoft Exchange Server, Presence, SonicWall, and related email concepts, protocols and methods along with the opportunities to perform major upgrades to our messaging platforms. The candidate will work alongside our Communications department to help design and support our unified messaging environment.

COMPUTER HW TECHNICIAN

My client a major NYC law firm, has a Computer Hardware Technician position available in their downtown offices. They are looking for someone that has worked in a legal environment with outstanding customer service/communication skills. Customer service skills, presentation and personality are also extremely important for this position.

HOURS: Mon. - Fri. from 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM.

SALARY: up to mid 50's (O/T eligible) depending on previous experience.



JOB DESCRIPTION:
Hands on involvement with all aspects of desktop support, including: project planning, testing, QC , documentation, end user support, setup, troubleshooting and maintenance.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Strong working knowledge of PC hardware and desktop software required. Experience with WIN2000, XP, Vista, Apple OSX, Lotus Notes, Microsoft Office Suite, iManage, Spyware and Adware removal, BlackBerry Desktop Manager and handheld devices. Unix HP-UX Back-ups (tar, Cpio, Omnibak II) and basic Unix system knowledge also a plus. Knowledge of wireless network setups, TCP\IP and other networking protocols and an ability to troubleshoot Internet and VPN connectivity issues essential. Candidate will spend considerable time on home user setups (with on-site visits for telecommuters) including configuration of networks via wired, wireless and power line bridges and support of remote access applications and maintenance of work-related applications on personal machines. Applicant should have a professional demeanor and be comfortable working in a demanding corporate law firm. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and team orientation a must. College degree preferred and 4+ years of relevant work experience required.
