Job Description
We are looking for a software engineer with a background in working on web apps, with some experience with Ruby on Rails and Javascript and an interest in learning more! We are always on the look out for smart people who want to take their programming skills to the next level.
Like everyone else on our team, you should be a great generalist, eager to learn new things and use the best tools for the job. You’ll be working on a large-scale application used by millions of people, so an aptitude for developing elegant, scalable, robust, and maintainable code is a must.
We are an agile shop. We pair program, test-drive all code, and work at a sustainable pace. Our schedule lives in Pivotal Tracker and is as accurate as possible. We hold regular retrospectives to improve our development process. We’re looking for engineers who are excited to engage in this style of work.
Responsibilities:
Create user interfaces that delight and engage, are visually amazing, but simple to use.
Optimize Javascript and CSS for maximum page performance
Collaborate with Product Managers and the UX lead on design ideas
Ensure design consistency across both internal and customer-facing content
Develop new approaches to complex design problems with the ability to then bring those ideas to reality
Ability to meet deadlines while producing quality code
Required Skills
Web interaction design experience
Experience working with HTML, CSS, DOM, AJAX, JavaScript, jQuery, and JSON
Prior experience designing and coding for high volume consumer web applications
Ruby on Rails experience or familiarity with similar languages and frameworks and a strong desire to learn Ruby on Rails
Expert level knowledge of cross-browser development and compatibility to ensure consistent rendering across platforms
Knowledge of web security issues and vulnerabilities
Strong collaborative skills and experience working in an agile environment
Experience with version control software, preferably Git
A desire and ability to learn new technologies on the job
