Ruby on Rails Developers – Backend Developers
Ruby on Rails Developers –Frontend Developers
This is easily one of the best opportunities available for developers in Austin. I have worked with this management team for over eight years and they always create an employee first culture at their companies. They have already founded two of Austin’s most successful start-ups and this one is well on the way to becoming an Austin legend. They are easily one of the most technically competent shops in Austin and their widely accepted product was built from the ground floor using RoR.
They are looking for developers who are self-motivated to create beautiful and easy to use interfaces. They take pride in not only the product but also the code that runs it. The environment is fast paced and fun, with releases occurring every 2-4 months.
They have two primary Rails applications. The product, which is an installed Rails application, and the community, which is hosted. The application was first built using pre-1.0 Rails and is currently on Rails 2.3.4.
They have several positions available, UI/frontend focused and backend developers.
Frontend developer needs UI/usability skills, knowledge of XHTML, CSS-layouts, JavaScript (we use Prototype) knowledge and experience with Rails views and controllers at the least.
For a backend developer, knowledge of Rails underpinnings, Ruby in general, and SQL (they are always looking at Rails logs for slow queries) is desirable. For either position, writing/maintaining tests (Test::Unit) will be required.

Salaries do depend on experience but this company is not cheap and they are incredibly fair. They will never let salary stand in the way of them getting a good developer.
