Summary:
The candidate will be responsible for working with our business partners and technical team to support our Business Intelligence platform. The candidate is responsible for the design, development and testing of Cognos reports and cubes to meet business requirements. Additional responsibilities will include troubleshooting Cognos reports and the reporting environment; working with the various levels of the organization to gather report requirements, understand business needs and objectives and recommend appropriate reporting solutions. The candidate will be expected to acquire and apply business knowledge in the performance of assigned projects. The individual must be proficient in Cognos report writing fundamentals and have a good business understanding to interpret requirements and communicate effectively with the customer.
Core Responsibilities:
- Responsible for designing and developing reporting solutions using the Cognos BI product suite
- Define, design, develop and deliver flexible reports that meet business user requirements
- Execute business requirements in a Cognos environment, ensuring data security, user friendly reports and features
- Create and execute test plans to find errors and confirm reports/cubes meet specifications
- Candidate will be expected to be involved in the full lifecycle of BI implementations, taking on roles beyond that of a developer when necessary. Must be comfortable being involved in business analysis and testing tasks in addition to architecture and development
- Mentoring and coaching business users who are creating queries and reports for their departments. Some high level training for business and IT users in correct methods and techniques for report/query design
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary
