Job Description
Designs, develops and modifies information systems to solve problems for multiple business segments.
Is a key architect for data warehouse design and must be able to guide all facets of data modeling
for reporting and analytics. Prepares program and system specifications, writes systems code, tests
functionality and prepares documentation of developed programs
Daily Duties / Responsibilities:
- Conducts systems analysis research and design activities for improving or enhancing system
performance of inbound and outbound data file transfer processes to meet client needs.
- Provides detailed specifications in accordance with department standards.
- Writes well-structured, easily-maintained, efficiently operating program code from moderate to
high-level functional specifications for new and existing programs. Identifies areas where additional
definition is required and obtains information.
- Formulates test plans and tests and debugs developed programs. Participates in user acceptance
testing.
- Works directly with clients and business analysts to identify client needs and alternative solutions.
- Prepares estimates of work effort.
- Reports status, activities and issues to the project team leader in accordance with department
standards.
- Prepares documentation of developed programs, including program and client documentation.
- Conducts client training, education and presentations.
- Provides technical guidance and support to less experienced programmers.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing
professional publications, and establishing personal networks
Candidate Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field with 5 to 7 years programming or systems
analysis experience directly related to the technologies used at Progressive Medical, or equivalent
combination.
- Proven, progressive experience with data warehouse/Business Intelligence application design and
development.
- Developed oral and written communication skills; strong customer service abilities.
- High degree of initiative and independent judgment.
- Well-developed analytical and problem solving abilities.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Able to write reports, business correspondence.
Required Skills
Computer skills:
- Creating dimensional models and cubes using Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or 2008 Analysis Services
- Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or 2008 package and procedure development
- ETL development experience utilizing SSIS
- Report creation experience utilizing SSRS and Report Builder
- Use of a data modeling tool (Toad/ STAR Schema preferred)
Certifications, Licenses, registrations
Any one of the following certifications is desirable:
- Microsoft Certified Solution Developer
- Microsoft Certified Applications Developer
- Microsoft Certified Professional Developer
- Certified Business Intelligence Professional (CBIP)
Preferred Skills:
- Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) site creation and administration
- C# and .NET Framework development experience
