The Onsite Field Engineer is required to have the following skill sets
• Linux
o Able to copy, move, delete files
o Diagnose PC configurations
• Strong knowledge of IP networks (Routers/Switches)
o CCNA or 2 years experience working in live networks
o Able to read and understand IP network design
o Able to troubleshoot an IP network
• Good understanding of a mobility network
o Familiar with telephony work environment
o Familiar with IuCS (voice) and IuPS (data) networks
o MSN
o MSC
o SGSN
• PC Setup (able to config and troubleshoot)
o DHCP
o TCP
o TFTP
o IP addressing
o Hard drive setup
• Fiber optic installation experience
o Handling
o Cleaning
o Dressing
o Measure light levels
• CAT6/Serial cable experience
o Handling
o Connectorizing
o Dressing
o Continuity test
o Able to make & troubleshoot cables
• DC Power (-48V)
o Able to troubleshoot DC power issues
• Communication Skills
o Able to communicate (verbal, written) well
o Comfortable speaking with management staff
o Able to provide clear and concise documentation

The Onsite Field Engineer is required to have the following tools
• Hand tools to support the making/fixing of CAT6 cables, Serial cables
• Fiber Optic cleaner
• Testing tools
o Continuity (CAT6, Serial)
o Light level meter (fiber optics)
o Volt/Ohm Meter
o Anti-static strap
• Laptop with Linux & Windows XP
o Must have a RS-232 port (or an adapter)
• Test cables
o Standard CAT6 Ethernet
o Cross-over
o Roll-over (for Cisco routers/switches)
• Cell phone to participate during maintenance window conference calls
Travel will be high.
