The Middleware Administrator provides leadership and technical expertise in the administration and support of middleware infrastructure for School Specialty. Strong technical background/experience is expected. The Middleware Administrator is a hands-on position in the Development Team focusing on delivery of enterprise-wide application server infrastructure. Duties include configuration and implementation of middleware systems and application servers, problem diagnosis and resolution, capacity planning, monitoring and analysis of server performance, and administration of the middleware infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop, document, and implement procedures that support, maintain and enhance application server products and services.
* Manage the application architecture of middleware tier infrastructure and Portal servers including Oracle Portal Server, Internet Application Server (IAS), Application Express (APEX), WebLogic, SOA Suite (BPEL, Business Rules Engine, Mediator), Oracle BAM, Liferay Portal, JBoss, Tomcat.
* Function as a technical expert in problem resolution for middleware infrastructure hardware and software issues.
* Responsible for understanding high availability / fault tolerance from the applications perspective
* Develop and implement procedures that support proactive problem detection and avoidance, including disaster recovery planning and implementation.
* Maintain appropriate controls and documentation to ensure compliance of audit requirements and qualifications.
* Provide analysis, advice, mentoring to BT and business leadership on Oracle related tools and technology.
* Make technical and process improvement recommendations.

* 3+ years operational experience with middleware tier infrastructure including Oracle Portal Server, Internet Application Server (IAS), Application Express (APEX), WebLogic, SOA Suite (BPEL, Business Rules Engine, Mediator), Oracle BAM, as well as LIferay Portal, JBoss, Tomcat, enterprise wide application integrations across platforms
* 3+ years of strong webservices background
* Experience with high availability/clustered servers in a hosted environment.
* Experience in a distribution-focused business.
