Sr. Flash Qualification Engineer - Carlsbad, CA (entry level - $80s)

The Flash Channel Group works on the development of advanced schemes to increase the performance of flash memory chips. The group works closely with flash memory chip vendors to characterize new flash technology and explore ways to ensure subsequent product offerings will maintain the company’s competitive advantage.

The Sr. Flash Qualification Engineer will be responsible for flash qualification at the Solid State Drive (SSD) level. Responsibilities include planning, execution, and reporting the results of the existing qualification and performance measurement tests. This position also involves working on improving the qualification procedure for next generation SSDs by implementing the latest findings of the Application Engineering Group and by developing new data analysis tools.

The candidate must have a BSEE or related field with 0-5 years of relevant industry experience (industry experience requirement might be waived for exceptional new college grad candidates). He/she must also have a working knowledge of qualification processes, scripting language skills, be extremely well organized and attentive to detail.


Responsibilities:
• Run flash qualification tests on SSDs, analyze data, generate reports
• Implement and document new flash qualification test procedures for SSDs
• Run performance measurement tests on SSDs, analyze data, generate reports
• Collect statistics, develop data analysis tools to facilitate debugging and failure analysis, report results
• Interface closely with the Application Engineering Group to implement the latest findings into the SSD qualification tests
• Assist in troubleshooting issues associated with transfer of new SSD technology to production


Qualifications:
• BSEE or related field with 0-5 years of relevant experience
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Excellent English oral and written communication skills
• Attention to detail, proven ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage priorities
• Proven ability to be flexible and work in a team environment
• Willingness to work outside of normal business hours as needed
• Experience with the following is a plus
o Perl, Python, UNIX shell, and Java scripting languages
o C/C++ and Matlab programming
o Firmware development
o TIBCO Spotfire software
o Instrumentation control protocols and standards (e.g., GPIB, VISA)
o Common interface standards (e.g., SAS, SATA, USB, serial port)
o Application profiling tools
