This position will report directly to the Network Services Manager
We are looking for a self-motivated, hands-on individual to manage
all aspects of a multi-location, multi-server IBM AS400 network.
Key Responsibilities:
a) Insuring that the Operating system, Application programs, Utility
programs, and PTF levels are actively maintained and kept updated
to the latest releases in a timely manner, Insuring that the Backup,
Restore, Archival, and Disaster Recovery procedures for the System,
Database, and all applications are defined, documented,
implemented, automated as required, and tested on a regular basis.
b) Managing day-to-day activities associated with job processing,
system startup and shutdown, data input\output management,
real-time and historical performance monitoring, and security
management for the system and data.
c) Evaluating the workload and capacity of the computer systems to
determine the feasibility of expanding or enhancing computer
operations.
d) Recommending hardware and software upgrades and interfacing
with business partners and other vendors to accomplish them.
e) All aspects of AS400 \ i Series maintenance, troubleshooting, and
problem solving.
f) Must be able to work closely with the rest of the IT staff, as well as
the network users, to provide enterprise-wide computer support, to
ensure compliance with computer related policies and procedures,
and to resolve problems relating to conflicts between applications,
devices, and interfacing systems.
g) Reviewing computer system capabilities, work flow, and scheduling
limitations, to determine if new requested programs or program
changes are possible within the existing system.
h) Any other duties as assigned.

Experience
a) 5+ years experience supporting the Hardware, OS400 Operating
system, and Utility software on the IBM AS/400/i Series is preferred.
b) The successful candidate should have skill and experience, both in
managing a legacy SNA / Twinax AS400 environment, as well as
managing a modern Ethernet AS400 environment, and will have
maintained proficiency with the latest i Series technology.
c) Experience with Web sphere family of applications.
d) Experience With application programming in RPG and SQL in order
to be able to assist programmers in resolution of work problems
related to the programming interface to the AS400 operating system
and database.
e) Abel to Manage a Lotus Domino/Notes environment on the AS400.
f) Abel to Integrating the AS400 environment with Windows Server
environments
g) This position requires a high degree of proficiency with CL
h) Experience in a manufacturing environment a big plus
