Detailed Description
You will wear many hats. The Director of Technology is an extremely hands-on technical position with leadership and management responsibilities. You will manage a small team of software developers to build and deliver Company’s core systems and back-office support systems. You should have experience building public-facing internet websites, with particular preference given to those with marketplace and/or B2B experience. Our core systems are built on the J2EE stack using a MySQL backend so you should be proficient in Java and have recent hands on experience implementing java-based systems. We leverage open source products as much as possible so you should have experience using open source frameworks and technologies. You should also have experience building infrastructures based on Linux-based architectures, particularly in the Amazon EC2 cloud. Experience building in failover mechanisms and disaster prevention and recovery plans is essential as you will not only be responsible for the code-base, but also system availability and our core data assets.
What we need most:
Passion, commitment, attention to detail, and exceptional internal drive are key requirements for the position. You need to be a talented self-starter who is delivery-focused and success oriented. You must be willing to roll up your sleeves and contribute wherever needed without concern for formal job descriptions or team boundaries. We are only interested in creative thinkers who will push their abilities to the maximum and develop creative solutions for our team and our users. You must have experience working in fast-paced environments where you had to work on multiple projects at once. You should have a proven track record of delivering quality software on-time with a can-do attitude. You must communicate effectively with business stakeholders and provide scoping and timing insight to help shape the product roadmap.
The right cultural fit:
If you love business, you will love our company. We were founded by successful internet entrepreneurs who saw the opportunity to change the way the $100 billion recruiting industry works. We are a team of bright, driven individuals with strong personalities and strong opinions. We all wear many hats not only because we have to in a startup, but also because we would die from boredom otherwise. The most successful candidates for our team will be just as excited about arguing the business merits of a new feature idea as architecting the technological details behind it. If you want to put your technology expertise to use in creating tremendous business value and can align with our vision to revolutionize the recruitment industry then read on. If your primary interest is building technology for technology's sake then please move along.
