NETWORK ENGINEER TECHNICIAN
Primary Function
• This position is part of a group that manages complex resolution of layer-1/2 transport network provisioning issues and develops practices and procedures for network installation and maintenance
Major Duties and Responsibilities
• Responsible for layer-1/2 network design, deployment, provisioning and operational support, covering fiber, DWDM, SONET, OC-x, ATM, DS3, T1, wireless, Fast/Gig/TenGig and Ethernet LAN/WAN network connectivity..
• Install, troubleshoot, and maintain Broadband WAN distribution equipment.
• Consult with customers to determine interface needs.
• Install and configure routers and servers to meet customer interface needs.
• Develop systems properly interface with customer's existing LAN.
• Coordinate with Provisioning and Technical support to restore service interruptions and complete installations and upgrades.
• Provide technical support to solve customer's service issues.
• Assist Engineering Support Professional in installing and testing optical WAN and voice solutions.
• Act in an On-Call capacity on a revolving basis.
Minimum Requirements
• B.A/B.S in technical business discipline or A.A in technical discipline and two years experience in telecommunications technology. Additional experience and Technology may be submitted for education requirement
• Basic understanding of DC power plant, timing sources (GPS), fiber optic distributions technology.
• Willingness and capability to learn and apply new technology.
• Demonstrate ability to perform independently in a project environment
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekend as needed.
• Valid Driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to pass drug test and background check.
• Test and troubleshoot fiber optic issues, outages.
• Update private documentation servers and create trouble tickets with vendor technical support TAC.
• Update and respond to Comcast XOC and NOC request.
• Perform all duties assigned.
