Job Description:

WED-SAT: 9p-7a
Provide Tier 4 support and fault isolation for the operations of
multi-million dollar server based systems in a fully functional customer
serving environment. Provide Tier 4 implementation support of server
systems which provide services available to over 5 million homes.
Provide 7x24x365 operational support through on-call duties to different
internal organizations.
Troubleshoot and remedy problems under time specific guidelines in order
to restore services generating seven figure revenues per week.
Install and implement new systems or improve legacy networks through
system upgrades.
Perform preventive maintenance such as but not limited to back-up data,
installation of patches and new version releases.
4 years experience:
Supporting servers within a production system in a mission-critical 7x24
environment
Programming and automating processes
Configuring and supporting TCP/IP (Transmission Control
Protocol/Internet Protocol)
1-2 years experience:
Simple Network Management Protocol (“SNMP”) and network management
Project management
Job Skills:
Strong analytical skills for problem solving.
Experience with SQL.
Experience with RAID and NAS storage technologies.
Familiar with RF and cable distribution systems.
Experience with video over IP systems.
Programming experience, preferably with Batch scripting, C, C++, Perl or
Java.
Experience with supporting NT, Windows 2000, Linux systems and Intel x86
hardware production systems in a mission-critical 7x24 environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to
produce documentation of operational procedures.
Must be able to work variable shift hours and rotate on-call duties.
Must be able to work in an entrepreneurial environment requiring broad
experience, adaptability, quick learning and excellent problem solving
skills.
Formal Education/Degree:
2 years degree preferably in communication or related field from College
or University or 4 years related experience.
Certificates/Licenses:
CCNA, MCDBA, MCSE. A+ and RHCT desirable. Vendor specific certificates
desirable
Valid driver’s license with clean driving records
Job Training:
Training in the fields of Microsoft NT 4.0 Server, Linux, Transmission
Control Protocol (TCP) / Internet Protocol (IP), video distribution
systems, multicast, MPEG streams and IP routing desirable
The job may require to:
Stand in the up position for extended period of time and may also
require some bending and kneeling.
Lifting of equipment in excess of 100 lbs.
Driving within New England at any time of the day or night, sometimes
through the elements.
Working night shifts to respond to maintenance demands during off-peak
network utilization hours.
