POSITION SUMMARY
This is a North Central Division Engineering position reporting out of the Boston eXcellence in Operations Center in Chelmsford MA. This position will have direct management oversight of the XOC Video Systems Service Desk.
Operational Duties
• Utilize proven leadership skills to develop video product operating strategies in both legacy and next generation video and On Demand technologies.
• Support all back office systems of both Linear and On Demand video technologies, including DAC’s, DNCS’s, VOD command centers, vendor specific NMS’s, closed loop encoding systems, etc.
• Development, review, implementation and compliance with all video work flows supporting day of business network operations in all facets of Comcast video, including linear back office, On Demand back office and video edge devices.
• Development of automation of video operational activities where systems expertise can be leveraged to reduce or eliminate customer down time during schedule or unscheduled demand maintenance.
• Analyzing and accountability for driving improvement in video performance metrics and trending.
• Support escalations of network events for all video devices and applications such as VOD pumps, IP Encoders, Multiplexers, Decoders, EAS video systems, Digital Simulcast systems, VOD systems, ADS/UET IP Multicast systems, Ad Splicing applications.
• Ensures the design of video operations tools, testing and processes/procedures development and documents related to video services meet Comcast guidelines and industry standards
• Leads development of required video systems training curriculum to support short term and long term business objectives
Communication and Relationship Duties:
• Strong cross-functional communication with peer Managers within the XOC to ensure consistent communication of process, updates, status, and metrics to the Analyst teams.
• Public speaking, conference call facilitation and project management coordination.
• Develops and maintains good relationships with key technical management from Customer Care, Technical Operations, Net Ops, as well as other regional and divisional department representatives to ensure effective dissemination of information related to event and maintenance activities
• Provide direct support to Division, Region, Area management on projects as required
• Represents XOC as primary point of contact between Region, Division and national engineering partners
• Act as a conduit regarding all video product escalations to all national video support desks as well as other XOC desks in other divisions.
• Provides timely and effective feedback to stakeholder organizations for all video event and maintenance activities from the XOC in order to provide pertinent information to aid their teams
Management Duties:
• Driving process development, execution, attracting, developing and retaining talent and building organizational relationships while fostering open dialogue and inspiring trust amongst the team.
• Building a team that inspires trust through empowerment, leadership versatility and effective communication practices.
• Accurate and timely appraisal of strengths and weaknesses for direct reports while managing change and task assignment to impact business results.
• Acts as XOC point of contact for end to end design implementation, and budgetary strategies on video platforms
• Some travel required.
• Perform other duties assigned as needed
EDUCATION:
BA or BS degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 5 years proven leadership experience required; previous leadership responsibility for converged video products on our IP infrastructure; previous experience managing organizational structure changes across multiple departments or work units
