Flash Channel System Architect San Diego
The Flash Channel Technology Group develops algorithms and architectures to exploit the capabilities of the latest flash memory technology in solid state disk (SSD) systems. The group works closely with flash memory chip vendors to characterize new flash technology and explore ways to ensure subsequent product offerings will maintain the companys competitive advantage.
The Flash Channel System Architect position requires strong analytical skills. Responsibilities include reviewing, analyzing and developing system components for error correction coding, signal processing and modulation coding. The typical process would involve working with others using theoretical principles to establish a list of options, and then, collectively developing a software model to evaluate the most promising options and to predict performance. The position would also be responsible for documenting analysis results and writing specifications for proposed systems.
The candidate must have an MSEE degree (Ph.D. is preferred) with at least 5 years of related experience which may include relevant thesis work. He/she must also have a working knowledge of signal processing with good software development skills, and be able to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Responsibilities:
Design and perform laboratory tests on flash memory to evaluate coding and signal processing algorithms.
Analyze data from lab experiments to identify data integrity issues with existing or proposed systems, and identify methods for improvement.
Participate in a small team to develop and assess new signal processing algorithms to support and enhance our existing SSD product line.
Analyze proposals using a combination of theoretical analysis and software simulation.
Provide technical reports on performance analysis activities concerning existing or proposed systems.
Write technical specifications and documentation for proposed systems.
Provide support to design and verification engineers by providing software models of proposed system components.
Assist in troubleshooting implementation issues associated with transferring new technology to production of SSD systems.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. in an appropriate field with 1 year experience is preferred, or M.S. with 5 years of related experience.
Experience with common laboratory equipment, measurement techniques, and scientific design of experiments.
Ability to implement signal processing algorithms using C/C++ and Matlab in collaboration with others.
