Job Responsibilities Position Summary:
Provide strategic and tactical leadership for the Greater Chicago Regional Engineering Department which supports over 2 million customers and $3 Billion in annual revenue.
Job Responsibilities:
Directly manage engineering teams whom are responsible for operating the regional head ends, IP networks, video systems, and voice platforms.
Develop focused programs to improve operating metrics, drive operating efficiency, and improve customer satisfaction.
Attract, retain, and motivate best in class technical team focused on high quality execution and excellence.
Prepare regional engineering capital and operating budgets relative to new technology deployments and upgrade of all network components for both outside and inside plant.
Review and approve project expenditures associated with the development and maintenance of video, high speed data and voice network and systems. Develop budget
• Function as chief technical resource to Regional Senior Vice President regarding engineering planning, decision-making, network architecture, and the implementation of new technology based products and services.
• Provide strategic direction, subject matter expertise, and effective coordination by aligning technology initiatives and engineering activity to meet business objectives
• Exhibit strong positive leadership and team building through collaboration, objective setting, succession planning, and career development.
• Successfully partner with cross-functional leaders to provide direct support for accomplishing business objectives and improving the customer experience.
• Insure that Head end facilities, power infrastructure, network capacities, and access systems are prepared for rapid deployment of new product.
• Provide support and direction for the maintenance, performance and capacity augmentation of our customer facing networks and technical facilities.
• Assume leadership and accept accountability to ensure that network failures are restored in a timely manner.
• Direct the prioritization and rollout of new products (e.g. MetroEthernet) within the Region. Work with Regional and Division/National operating groups to successfully launch new technologies.
Ensure adherence to industry, Corporate and Division technical operating standards and procedures.
Foster Regional engineering competence and continuity of qualified staff through optimum selection and development in accordance with Comcast policies and procedures.
Manage training requirements, communications and coordination across National, Division, and Region engineering organizations.
Maintain a state-of-the-art technology knowledge base
Monitor compliance of Region to all FCC, FAA, OSHA, and Comcast requirements.
Interface with division and corporate technical teams to understand and provide guidance on emerging technical solutions.
Responsible for development and implementation of a long term engineering strategy in conjunction with Region, Division and Corporate Engineering leadership.
Work in conjunction with Regional and Division VP of Operations as a direct liaison and resource for the Division engineering team.
Lead the technical integration of cable acquisitions.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or the recognized equivalent in work experience, or a combination of work experience and education.

Demonstrated history of engineering leadership positions in high volume, fast paced, environment requiring teamwork, flexibility and managing through chang
Minimum 10 years experience in a major market cable system operation and/or multiple location cable system operation, including 5 years management experience.
