The Company -
Our client is a small hedge fund with specific focus on High Frequency Trading. The core consists of small group of educated PhD scientists who came together to build trading models in multiple asset classes. Challenged to finding non-random behavior in data sets they tackled the FX market with new algorithmic trading and quickly separated themselves from everyone else in the market.
After building a successful company that was purchased by a world leader in capital markets they are now onto their next venture and with an infrastructure in place and their first year of live trading behind them are focusing on equities and growing to FX and futures.
All systems are built from scratch and brand new. The competitive advantage is the model and brilliant combination of quantitative minds. They build their systems to be smarter, highly risk adverse, rigorously tested and with a strict scientific approach to modeling algo trading
The Role –
They are looking to bring on the first technologist in the firm, who would be the go to go person for all technology aspects. This would be an opportunity for a passionate developer to get in on the ground floor, and grow with the company. Unlike at big banks, or other hedge funds, you will be paid for your skills, as your work will directly drive the bottom line. Person needs be willing to do whatever it takes in their start-up environment. The company has built their own infrastructure, libraries, and data parsers. This role presents the opportunity to work with many different technologies. (Java, C++, Python, Linux boxes) which are all used. They have one of the fastest systems in high frequency trading. If you are a hungry technologist, that gets excited about custom development, creating your own dashboards, or trying to reduce connectivity by 2 milliseconds, then this could be a perfect role for you.
Qualifications –
Strong Computer Science Background
True Technologist - Strong Programming (C++, Java, Python)
Experience working on trading systems, or strong financial knowledge
Understanding of networking, ability to write API’s, and FIX experience.
