POSITION PURPOSE: Help to form and support ETL and data integration strategies. Recommend and introduce best practices and standards to support ETL technologies. Help manage the production support aspects of client ETL activities. Participate in projects with ETL needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
§ Provide ETL design services to support enterprise data integration
§ Provide ETL development and support for data warehouse
§ Provide ETL repository administration services and enforce ETL object reusability
§ Facilitate ETL-related data quality management
§ Work with DBA and Technology Architecture to optimize ETL performance
§ Attend or facilitate meetings to identify/clarify ETL project requirements
§ Develop and implement the error handling strategy for ETL.
§ Unit test ETL mappings to ensure functionality.
§ Participate in the development cycle including analysis, design, build and test
§ Participate in full testing cycle including bug fixes(Assembly, System and Production)
§ Participate in ETL activities across client as an advocate, consultant, implementer or project manager.
§ Assist with developing, implementing, and continuously updating ?best practices? and standards as they relate to ETL in the client environment.
MAJOR QUALIFICATIONS:
§ Three to five years experience in data warehousing
§ Three to five years of in-depth knowledge of and experience with the Informatica PowerCenter 6.x or 7.x as both a designer, developer, and administrator
§ High proficiency in understanding relational and dimensional data models.
§ Proficiency in SQL including the use of SQL editors, stored procedures, database triggers and optimizing SQL statements.
§ Familiarity with data modeling and associated tools.
§ Experience with Oracle or other RDBMS
§ Working knowledge of AIX operating system and UNIX scripting.
§ Strong strategic skills, the ability to lead in the adoption of ETL technologies, standards and best practices.
§ Ability to handle difficult situations; work as a team to resolve issues and to help firefight during crises situations.
§ Proven tactical skills, the ability to move tactical decisions towards strategic initiatives.
§ Ability to collaborate effectively with a broad base of business and technology associates.
§ Ability to conceptualize and package complex technical topics in succinct business terms to technical and business audiences at all levels of the organization.
§ Prefer working knowledge of the life insurance or financial services industry
