SUMMARY:
The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for the development and support of Store Systems. The ideal candidate will have retail systems experience as well as experience in Microsoft's latest technologies, including Visual Basic, .Net 2.0, C#, and SQL. The individual will participate in all phases of the software implementation process including both package and custom development. Software development processes will include requirements gathering and analysis, functional design, technical design, coding, testing,
implementation, and post implementation support & maintenance.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as necessary to fulfill optimum efficiency of this position:

The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for analysis, design, development, maintenance, and support of complex information systems. Also, you will assume responsibility for administration, documentation, support and troubleshooting of these systems.

Responsibilities include the following:
" Utilize creative thinking and problem solving skills to analyze, design, and implement robust, maintainable solutions that meet the established business requirements.
" Establish and enforce software development best practices.
" Develops and maintains technical and project documentation.
" Develops test plans and works with QA to establish test processes.
" Monitor and support the client's information systems.
" Make suggestions to management, based on current and emerging technologies, on methods to reduce costs, improve performance and availability, and reduce administration time for store information systems.
" Research, test, and apply all applicable patches.
" Ability to understand and apply basic software implementation methodology concepts
" Experience in Microsoft development languages, coupled with a strong emphasis on object-oriented design and implementation
" Strong local syntax SQL (Standard Query Language) skills and ability to understand relational data models.
" Perform on call duties on rotation with other developers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
" A bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or other related degree including relevant work experience.
" 5-8 years of application analysis, design, development and maintenance. This should include Microsoft's Visual Studio 6 (Visual Basic 6) along with strong SQL Server experience.
" Extensive experience with User-Interface development using built-in and custom event handling.
" Expert knowledge of Visual Source Safe or Team Foundation Server for versioning and source control.
" Must have aggressive attitude and be eager to continue growing and learning.
" Must be willing to do some maintenance on older technologies.
" Must have some of the intangible leadership type qualities and desire.
" Educational and implementation experience with current Microsoft desktop/server operating systems.
" Good communication skills and a friendly empathetic demeanor.
" Strong written, verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
" Ability to work alone or in a team environment.

Additional items are a PLUS but not required:
" Knowledge of Retail Systems and processes
" Experience with .Net web services architecture and implementation of Service Oriented Architectures.
" Extensive knowledge of the .Net framework and underlying code libraries
" Advanced Object-Oriented design and development practices
