Industrial Engineer
Your Responsibilities:
High Potential –
a. As delegated by immediate supervisor, assist in the completion of engineering projects by conducting feasibility studies, workflow charts, cost estimates, etc.
b. Evaluates present design and structure, recommends on proper engineering structure to improve quality and performance and to ensure compliance with industrial standards. May assist the Industrial Engineer and/or Sr. Industrial Engineer on projects.
c. Monitors current projects by reviewing all data pertaining to specifications and recommends improvements, if appropriate.
d. Assists in the continued quality maintenance and smooth workflow by promptly designing alternative manufacturing process methods.
e. Develops and maintains current knowledge and skills on all industry and/or professional trends in own field.
f. This position fosters PLC’s quality commitment to meeting customer requirements and improving job performance by applying the core concepts and tools of QIS (meeting customer requirements, cost of ownership, cost of quality, defect prevention, responsibility for own work and zero defects). It is the responsibility of this position to actively contribute to PLC’s market leadership and to strengthen its position on a long-term basis by inspiring others to the commitment of zero errors and error-free performance.

Your Profile:
Experience:
• 3 – 5 years experience in a manufacturing/processing environment, or equivalent. Must have working knowledge of OSHA and EPA.
• Greenbelt and/or Six Sigma training preferred
Education/Training:
• B.S. Industrial Engineering degree.
Other:
• Judgment (resourcefulness, creativity, choice of action, critical thinking skills, and supervision received):
o Under general supervision, this position prepares all preliminary preparation of an engineering project of low to medium-complexity and low to medium scale. Upon approval this position implements the project with the immediate assistance of the supervisor. Under the guidance of supervisor, applies own resourcefulness, as well as already established engineering procedures. This position has unlimited margin of action to actively and effectively contribute to the locations commitment to quality within its realms of knowledge, experience and “what if” skills.
• Major contacts (complexity, skill required, persuasiveness and business impact for both internal and external, i.e., taking messages to negotiating matters of considerable importance):
o This position has on-going interaction with other engineers, immediate supervisor and plant employees. Communication is in the written and oral form and in the nature of receiving guidance, direction, and make recommendations and to generally, actively participate in engineering projects.
• Financial impact (care and attention required, freedom to influence, and level of impact):
o This position has limited exposure to the overall engineering and/or project budget. It assists in contributing to the department’s control on expenses by actively recommending engineering changes/enhancements in a cost-effective manner and by ensuring changes and/or maintenance projects have minimal impact on downtime, quality and production workflow
