Senior SQL Server Developer/DBA
Consultant will work with a team of SQL Server database administrators to support and provide backup in a Development & Production environment across several Georgia Department of Human Resources projects. This position is located in downtown Atlanta, Georgia. This position is for a state hourly employee. $35 to $50 per hour.
Under limited supervision, the mid-level SQL Server DBA will report to the Manager of the Data Management Group and must be able to install, maintain and monitor multiple SQL Server database systems (SQL Server 2005 and higher), including development, test, training and production database environments. The mid-level SQL Server DBA should posses at least five years of experience managing SQL Server database systems as well as possess the following DBA skills:
• Logical and Physical Database Design
• SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition
• SQL Server Integration Services
• SQL/Transact SQL Programming
• 5+ years of MS SQL Server 2000
• 1-2+ year of MS SQL Server 2005
• 2+ years of ASP.NET, XML, and Java development
• Experience managing SQL Server 2000/2005 databases applications
• Five or more years of experience with SQL Server 2000/2005, Enterprise Manager, Query Analyze, Reporting Services, Analysis Server, SQL Server Profiler, DTS and SSIS
• Experience in both normalized and de-normalized data environments from a wide variety of data sources
• Experience with SSIS, SSRS and SSAS, ETL Tools
• Data Warehousing for use in SQL Server 2005 Project Development as well as DTS packages in SQL Server 2000
• Experience with the development and support of web enabled database applications using ASP.NET and IIS 6.0
• Experience with collecting requirements from business users and transforming them into data models and logical and physical designs using database design tools
• Solid analytical and problem solving skills
• Analyze customer database needs and requirements, implement recommended solutions.
• Assist in developing database security, control procedures, testing, conversion, implementation and documentation
• Assist with data modeling assignments and provide database related assistance to application developers as needed such as SQL tuning.
• Assist in the analysis of changes to hardware, network, database objects, patches, application, etc.
• Develop and deploy SQL scripts, stored procedures, functions in support of application database needs.
• Assist in the preparation, creation and review of test plans and data.
• Serve as point of contact and responsibility for database and other application vendors when problem escalation is warranted.
• Perform pro-active database performance monitoring and tuning.
• Interact closely and professionally with other team members on various projects or tasks. Be willing to learn and be willing to mentor others.
• Bachelors of Science degree in computer science, management information systems, or engineering
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Translate business requirements into an effective and efficient data model/architecture.
• Conduct meetings with business partners and technical staff.
• Express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Create SSIS packages to migrate existing data into new data structures.
• Perform database development activities such as coding stored procedures, triggers, and operating system scripts.
• Perform database administration activities such as performance monitoring, performance tuning, capacity planning and query optimization.
• Assist in the configuration of database server hardware to optimize performance.
