Stein Mart is currently seeking a talented and friendly individual to join our growing Information Systems team as a Programmer Analyst. This position is responsible for design, development, maintenance, documentation, testing and support of new and existing POS system applications. This position is responsible for total life cycle development, including analysis, design, programming, implementation coordination, and user interaction.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•Work closely with users to help define system requirements and perform analysis
•Work with Manager or Project Leader to develop and test business applications
•Adhere to Standard Development Life Cycle, Change Control process and procedures, and Security/Audit policies and procedures
•Follow project plans and provide status reports to Manager on complex development project(s) progress.
•View software packages/products and define, prioritize, plan and implement solutions across multiple complex projects.
•Ensure team comprehends and applies established processes, policies, standards and procedures.
•Guide and direct project teams in requirements gathering, design and development of complex applications/programs.
•Ensure compliance and conduct appropriate test reviews.
•Participate in code walkthroughs
•Create turnover documentation and procedures
•Provide off hours application support
Job Requirements:
•Degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent work experience
•Minimum 2-5 years of object-oriented software development experience with Java
•2 - 4 years experience using the following technical skills in a development environment: EJB, J2EE, RMI, XML, JDBC, web technologies such as JSP servlets and Apache Tomcat
•Experience writing basic SQL and exposure to DB2
•Experience writing and extending Swing applications
•Experience using the Spring Framework
•Basic understanding of configuration management principles
•Working knowledge of Windows based PC’s and Microsoft Office applications
•Good oral and written communications skills
Preferred Qualifications:
•Prior exposure to retail systems and use or knowledge of the Association of Retail Technology Standards (ARTS) data model
•POS experience
•Experience with 360 commerce or Oracle Retail Point of Service
•Experience with credit switches
•Experience with store value cards (i.e., store brand gift/loyalty cards)
•Experience working with .NET frameworks
•Demonstrated experience working with POS peripheral devices (i.e., receipt printers, signature capture devices, scanners, etc.)
