We currently have 6 month’s contract opportunity for a UNIX Administrator - with our client located in Valley Forge, PA. The candidate must be willing to work three weekly night shifts from 7pm until 730am.

Job Description:
• Single point of contact to troubleshoot & resolve all UNIX, Sybase, Oracle, & net-centric related problems
• Monitor various systems management event consoles to recognize problem events, and react appropriately
• Quickly analyze and resolve infrastructure problems
• Restore service to shareholders and internal clients as quickly as possible
• Work to resolve Trouble Tickets in a timely and effective manner
• Operationally manage UNIX-based and net-centric environments
• Interface with other Technology Operations and IT personnel (Network, Mainframe, Tier3, TE, PCOE, SI, etc.)
• Assist various Tier3 staffs to perform general system administration functions for all areas of accountability (above)
• Assist various Tier3 staffs in the introduction of new technologies and major functionality upgrades
• Assist various Tier3 staffs in performance monitoring and capacity planning for all platforms
• Develop and maintain Operational Policies and Procedures for all T2/UTS services
• Support elevations to the production environment
• Maintain site security

Required Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• 3 - 5 years (or more) extensive systems administration experience with UNIX/Solaris8, including file systems and disks, system directory structures, clusters, hardware devices, UNIX startup & shutdown, user accounts, security, managing system resources, backup & restore, terminals & printers, TCP/IP, installation & maintenance, product administration, vendor management, and performance analysis
• Solid working knowledge of UNIX/Solaris hardware & software technologies, including system kernel parameters, system installation & configuration, software distribution, printing systems, and native & 3rd-party software installation
• Good working knowledge of network technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, Web Load Balancing), including fundamental networking/distributed computing environment concepts; NFS configuration, nslookup, snoop, dig, traceroute, netstat, etc.
• Good working knowledge of operating system, paging & swapping, inter-process communications, devices & device drivers, file system concepts; and hardware components, such as channel controllers, disk drives, communications cards (e.g. nic.)
• Good working knowledge of network & UNIX security procedures including (SSL, KERBEROS, DCE, firewalls, intrusion detection)
• Experience supporting distributed database systems extremely helpful, especially Oracle & Sybase, including SQL, file systems, clustering, database structures, hardware devices, startup and shutdown, user accounts, security, managing database resources, backup & restore, and performance analysis & tuning
• UNIX Korn shell scripting knowledge extremely beneficial (PERL, SED/AWK helpful, as well)
• Formal Solaris System Administration & Oracle Administrator certifications extremely desirable
• Project management skills helpful

Special Considerations
• 24X7 environment
• Three day (3DWW) work week (12.5 hours per day) job [NOTE: initial training & orientation will begin as a 5-day workweek at RAD data center for a period of 3 to 6 weeks]
• Probable night shift work (7P-7:30A)
• Potential to transition to a day work (6A-6:30P) assignment at a later date
• Rotating shift assignments, as necessary
• Probable NorTech assignment, with occasional rotating assignments at RAD or NorTech data center work locations, as necessary
