Our client is a leading provider of online storage and online backup software and services. Based in downtown Washington DC, they currently serve millions of customers via their website offerings and partners. The Company is experiencing significant growth and is looking for passionate technologists to join a top team of web development professionals. This is a full-time, permanent career position for Database Engineers with experience with Microsoft SQL Server. Responsibilities include all aspects of database engineering for web-based software application development projects. Successful candidates will have proven experience that includes the following:
Primary Responsibilities:
• Work with a dedicated database engineering group to design and maintain database components as part of a rapidly-evolving system that serves a large customer base
• Upgrade, test and deploy software components as part of a rapid development lifecycle
• Participate in the design process as part of the application development team
• Evaluate current and proposed systems and recommend improvements – including improvements based on emerging software technologies and products.
• Other assignments on an as needed basis
Qualifications / skills include:
• BS in Computer Science or Engineering
• 3 or more years experience with SQL Server and experience with SQL Server 2005
• Experience creating and maintaining database build scripts
• Experience creating and maintaining database stored procedures
• Experience working on projects using source control
• Experience with data mining is a plus
• Experience with report generation using SQL Server is a plus
• SOAP/XML, ASP/COM, UML experience a plus
• Experience with the application lifecycle and application design is desired
• Strong problem solving skills and excellent English written/verbal communication and presentation skills required
• Proactive and detail-oriented individual with strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
• Ability to effectively work in and contribute to small project teams throughout the full project lifecycle
• A passion for technology
