Summary: The ideal candidate has a solid understanding and hands-on experience in building a highly-available (HA) distributed Network/Element Management system; excellent in JAVA programming, Unix/Linux OS, Web-based GUI, Eclipse Plugin development, XML and scripting, hands-on experience in C/C++; and is excited by the challenge of delivering cutting-edge technology in a fast-paced, startup environment.
- Enhancements of NMS interface to manage hardware platform (s)
- Designing and developing plug-ins for different management tasks
- Responsible for driving integration testing efforts
- Responsible for supporting Customer Satisfaction efforts in Carrier deployments
Job Description:
- Installation, configuration, administration, and maintenance of Network Management Systems workstations and servers
- Create, configure, and maintain Network Management Systems network maps and submaps to depict customer network topology.
- Create and configure events and alarms
- Configure SNMP and status polling
- Create and configure filters
- Configure and maintain device probes
- Scheduling application processes
- Performance tuning and optimisation of Fault and Event Management databases
- Backup and Restore of databases
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of design and development engineering experience in Network Management (preferably in telecom/wireless space)
- 7+ years of overall software engineering experience in distributed system with emphasis on Software Management and Scalability aspects
- Strong experience in Java on UNIX/Linux is required.
- Should have strong C, C++, Shell scripting language skills.
- Experience with plugin development is a big plus
- MySQL Database experience is a big plus.
- Prior experience working on network management of network equipment highly desired
- Excellent communication skills and a highly motivated team player
- University degree in computer science or other related engineering degree
- Good understanding of computing science
- Must have an UNIX-like systems experience and knowledge, preferably Solaris.
- Must have a software development background, a middleware development experience is an advantage.
- Knowledge and experience of software development languages, i.e. Perl, Java, JavaScript, PL/SQL
- Knowledge of OSS/BSS systems preferable (e.g. Siebel, Cramer, Smarts, InfoVista, Oracle Financials, Business Objects)
- An individual who is able to drive problem resolution working with multiple groups with differing views.

The employee will likely be placed in a project office while spending a significant portion of his/her time working at remote field sites. Project offices and remote sites are typically informal and short on amenities. The work environment characteristics are representative of those of an employee encounters while performing essential functions of the job in a typical office/remote site situation. Able to work sitting or standing at desk and operate a computer via standard input devices such as using a keyboard and reading information on a monitor.
