Summary: Systems Engineer will be responsible for the operation of company and project local and wide area network(s), ensuring proper security and administration of said network.
Job Requirements:
- Installation and support of Nortel Wireless Gateway 7250 and Access point 7220 network, Nortel VPN Router 1750, Sonic Wall Pro 4060, Cisco Routers, Managed Layer 2 1000/100/10 Ethernet Switches
- Manage the Windows 2003 and Active Directory-based LAN/WAN environment
- Install, support and configure software applications that run on Windows 2003 Servers and Windows XP clients
- Provide ongoing software maintenance, including updates and security patches for windows server and client systems
- Monitor, evaluate, and solve potential hardware and software performance issues
- Manage Windows 2003 server-related and other network requests and problems
- Provide end user desk side support on an as needed basis
- Provide support and administration of a Microsoft Exchange 2003/2007 environment
- Develop and maintain documentation related to the installation, administration, and maintenance of network environment
- Knowledge base shall include AD, DDNS, DHCP, SNMP, SMTP, FTP, TFTP, RTP, SCCP, HTTP, NAS, AVVID, VoIP. MS Back-office, COTS and GOTS applications.
- Minimum 5 years working with firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, risk analysis, security policies and procedures.
- Experience with Network design, security and access equipment in a highly available environment.
- Hands-on experience designing, implementing, and managing fault-tolerant and load balanced networks.
- Experience w/ SSL and IPSEC VPN technology in a heterogeneous environment.
- Experience with service provider networks and large enterprise networks.
- Strong familiarity with tcpdump, NAI Sniffer and other common network analysis/management tools.
- Must be able to develop and deploy Information Security policies; knowledge of corporate business controls and industry best-practices a plus.
- Strong experience assessing and implementing security mechanisms and monitoring systems.
- Common Linux, Unix, and Windows system administration abilities preferred.
- Good working knowledge of common TCP and UDP application protocols.
- Ability to write ACLs and Regular Expressions with a strong familiarity of the terminology and concepts involved.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Exemplary customer support skills with ability to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical personnel & customers.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments concurrently with a proven track record of delivering results in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to learn new technology quickly.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
The employee will likely be placed in a project office while spending a significant portion of his/her time working at remote field sites. Project offices and remote sites are typically informal and short on amenities. The work environment characteristics are representative of those of an employee encounters while performing essential functions of the job in a typical office/remote site situation. Able to work sitting or standing at desk and operate a computer via standard input devices such as using a keyboard and reading information on a monitor.
