POSITION TITLE: Sr Systems Engineer/Technical Architect DEPARTMENT: Engineering
STATUS: Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for the support of the Sales and Professional Services organization through a combination of approx 50% time spent in PRE SALES SUPPORT and 50% of time spent in POST SALES IMPLEMENTATION.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Self-motivated individual, able to work well with multiple sales reps, and be creative in obtaining information and solving problems.
2. Uses in-depth knowledge to view the whole picture when isolating customer-related issues.
3. Understands and advises customers on “IT Best Practices” when implementing and designing a solution.
4. Analyzes and resolves problems associated with server hardware, operating systems, and applications software.
5. Detects, diagnoses, and reports server and network related problems to the customers, can design and present alternative solutions or workarounds.
6. Able to quantify specific professional service deliverables and estimate delivery time for projects.
7. Responsible for the creation and presentation of Statements of Work (SOW) to the Account Managers and Customers.
8. May be responsible for directing and coordinating tasks of others to ensure projects stay on time and on task.
9. Able to provide Knowledge Transfer (training) and detailed project documentation (i.e. Runbooks) at the end of a project.
10. Provide technical validation on customer quotes.
11. Maintains good working relationships with customer IT staff and PS groups.
12. Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Maintains accurate work schedule and calendaring.
2. Maintains and updates information in Company CRM tool.
3. Support Company Service Desk.
4. Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/SKIL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Requires 5-10 YEARS of hands-on experience, bachelor’s degree, or completion of a Technical Certification Track. The Sr. Systems Engineer/Technical Architect position must attain and maintain certifications in Sun Microsystems/STK (Enterprise Certification), Veritas/Symantec and Network Appliance and/or Microsoft (MCSE). In addition, this position requires that the Sr. Systems Engineer/Technical Architect be at an expert level (requires industry certification) in one of the following disciplines: STORAGE, VIRTUALIZATION/CONSOLIDATION, Messaging, SECURITY, Database or NETWORKING. Computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office Suite, eMail, and Internet are necessary. Requires strong time management, verbal, written, leadership, and team-oriented skills. Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines is essential. Ability to clearly present complex technical concepts and solutions to customers and other sales team members is essential.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Position requires the use of the telephone and face-to-face communications. Position frequently requires the ability to complete on site meetings with customers. Position frequently includes overnight stays and travel to customer locations or partner training facilities.
