**This position requires a strong working knowledge of Active Directory specifically**

The depth of involvement and scope of assignments for the following tasks increases at each level. The Network Administrator conducts assigned duties under direct supervision, and is expected to perform normal maintenance and upgrade functions independently with general direction provided by a supervisor/manager:

1. Analyzes and develops solutions to daily support problems associated with the department computer operations, systems and programming functions, database operations, and distributed processing.
2. Under direction installs scheduled upgrades of operating systems, vendor software and ancillary support systems; provides necessary follow-up support including training to facilitate system operation.
3. Tests new hardware and software system performance, compatibility, and feasibility; recommends changes to the supervisor to improve performance of distributed network operating systems and/or assigned databases.
4. Interacts with vendors and ISD divisions on hardware and software problems, and maintenance requirements.
5. Prepares control programs that manipulate input/output routines and equipment, such as teleprocessing terminals, modems, disk drives and printers; may develop and maintain databases in both batch and distributed processing environments.
QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Working to thorough knowledge (depending on level in series) of: computer ( i.e., IBM, HP, Model 204, Unix) operating systems and associated utilities, languages and database management systems; operations, capabilities and limitations of computer systems; principles and techniques of programming and coding operations and third party softwares; and principles and concepts of networking and database management.

Working to comprehensive abilities (depending on level in series) to: Under direction, analyze procedures/data and develop logical conclusions; perform operational requirement studies in a total systems context; maintain cooperative working relationships with others; and prepare reports and/or documentation as required.

Working skill to: Under direction, install and configure computers, control units, disk/tape/communication controllers, disk/tape drives, printers and related equipment.

Supplemental Information:

May be required to travel within the county to trouble shoot or restart computers; to work nights, weekends, and holidays on an on-call basis; lift or move equipment for diagnosis or repair; and work under raised floors to check computer connections and cables.

This is a 9 - 12 month contract position with a large government agency in the area. Govenrnmental/Large Enterprise experience is a huge plus. There are 150+ servers in the environment.
