Location: Burlington, IA
BASIC FUNCTION: Generates and develops extensive designs of hydraulic cylinders due to new product profile requirements per Division objectives. Coordinates with manufacturing to minimize the costs of the designed products.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Produces solid models of hydraulic cylinders in pro-e, to include component details and plumbing diagrams. Release of drawings into the bill of material.
Defines and develops design features to improve functionality and overall product performance utilizing design analysis methods.
Develops new design concepts relative to assigned and related projects which will advance acceptance of the product/systems.
Designs tests and coordinates testing to prove out concepts and demonstrates reliability of hydraulic cylinders.
Conducts analyses and determines root causes for component related issues arising during the design and release process.
Works with suppliers in the selection of sub-components, their location and packaging into the hydraulic cylinders.
Provides technical assistance and liaison to other functions within the corporate sector (Manufacturing, quality etc) to launch products and resolve problems.
Prepares project documentation, including monthly reports, responses to test reports.
Propose new cost improvement ideas on an ongoing basis.
Meets all product launch dates, their respective platform release dates and schedules and cost reduction targets for the construction equipment division.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
BS degree in Mechanical engineering required. Masters Degree in Engineering with emphasis in mechanical, agricultural or construction and/or reliability preferred.
5 + years experience in hydraulic design of cylinders required.
Must have experience in Pro-E layout and detail design
Good working knowledge of basic hydraulic principles and standard components
Knowledge of hydraulic systems and components used in mobile equipment is a must.
Must be a highly motivated self-starter with a flair for design and good communication skills.
Light Travel 10% to 20%
