Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include but are not limited to:
Perform CCSS/SDS batch application processing to include government-developed data management utilities such as Cyclic Data Management Routines (CDMRs), Data Management Routines (DMRs), Multi-Machine Scheduler (MMS) and other unique CCSS/SDS utilities that are utilized in abend recovery techniques, special application cycle executions, and file restores and/or file rebuilds, and to populate job scheduling execution matrixes.
Perform CCSS/SDS batch application processing working in an IBM mainframe batch processing environment that utilized commercial or non-commercial software utilities to accomplish data restores, file rebuilds, application restarts, non-commercial database population, population of scheduling matrixes for job executions, and to validate expected batch processing outcomes.
Answer telephone calls in a professional manner and open a REMEDY ticket for each call.
Handle/Resolve all customer calls in an expeditious manner.
When required, monitor all mainframe systems consoles, networking consoles, OMEGAMON and/or OMEGAVIEW consoles to avoid bottlenecks, system degradation, slow downs, alerts and outstanding messages, which could impact the customers and production.
On normal occasions, monitor mainframe activity via the assigned work station and/or the console emulation monitor.
Apply the appropriate response to required console messages in a timely manner to avoid delays.
Perform Initial Procedure Loads (IPLs) when required/requested.
Monitor all production batch job processing utilizing Multi-Machine Scheduler (MMS), CONTROL M, and Enterprise Control Station (ECS).
Perform research analysis on all abended started tasks and jobs to determine what corrective actions are necessary. Research should be done utilizing Time Sharing Option (TSO), ROSCOE, system logs, core dumps, and/or job/task syslists and sysouts.
Perform job abend recovery utilizing provided restart/recovery documentation procedures, on-call procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and expertise of co-workers.
Perform Job Control Language (JCL) and parameter modifications/changes for production and maintenance jobs, scheduling requirements, started tasks, customer requests and abended jobs.
Escalate all customer complaints and critical outages/issues/problems to the Shift Supervisor in a timely manner.
Document and Log all production job abends, the cause, person notified, restart/recovery method used and any additional information that can be used to avoid a future abend in an online shift log.
Perform scheduling for MMS and Control-M production processes.
· Annotate and Log the entire shift's events in an online turnover log for the other shifts and management.
Update and Modify documentation for all mainframe systems when provided by the Technical Support staff.
Suggest improvements for system availability for the customers, production batch processing, automation, and etc.
