About Community Rank
Community ranks range from 1 to 10. All Members begin with a community rank of 1.
Community rank is a number that represents your Member Profile’s relative importance
in the community. Your relative importance is measured by your place in the community’s
professional social network as defined by endorsements.
Community rank is competitive. Only one Member in the entire community will have a rank
that approaches 10. A rank of exactly 10.000 is theoretically unachievable.
It is easier to raise your community rank when it is low. As your community rank increases,
it becomes exponentially more difficult to gain more.
Community rank is updated every 2 hours.
Tips for Increasing Community Rank
Be active in the community by endorsing others. Use the Build Rank link at the bottom of this page
and the member search feature on the Home page to search for
profiles. When you find a profile that you believe is of high quality, make an endorsement.
After making an endorsement, browse though the members at the bottom of that profile. A strong
network consists of more than 2 people.
Receive endorsements from others. Receiving endorsements always increases your community rank.
If a Member endorsing you is also endorsed by you, your community rank will be increased even further.
This is a mutually beneficial relationship in terms of community rank.
Stay active. Since your community rank is relative to all other Members on the site, if you have
been away for awhile, your rank may have dropped. This is possible if others in the community
have significantly increased their ranks while you were away.
Highest Rank
Receiving the highest community rank will only be achieved by one person
and thus will be a difficult goal to achieve. Attaining that goal is also not necessary. Employers
will do narrow searches. So an example of a more attainable goal may be to be in the top 10 electrical
engineers in the Chicago area for instance. When an employer searches for Members using those categories, only
those Members will be returned -- sorted by community rank.
